New Spec Interiors collaborated closely with the principal contractor, utilizing the in-house design team’s drawings from J. Adams & Co. to bring their vision to life. Given that this was a light showroom, it was essential that all new partitions were designed to accommodate the hanging of brass pendants.

PROJECT BRIEF

New Spec Interiors worked in close collaboration with the principal contractor, leveraging the expertise of J. Adams & Co.’s in-house design team to transform their conceptual vision into a fully realised physical space. This project focused on the creation of a high-end light showroom, where the integration of architectural features, functional design elements and aesthetic quality were paramount. The project was particularly challenging due to the unique specifications around the design and installation of partitions, as well as the emphasis on flawless surface finishes required for such a premium retail environment.
Design and Installation of Partitions
- Non-invasive installation: By using a perimeter system, the tanked walls were left undisturbed, ensuring that the waterproofing remained intact and functional.
- Strong and secure fixings for pendants: The perimeter track system provided stable and reliable anchoring points for the heavy brass pendants, ensuring they were safely suspended.
- Efficient power routing: The partition system facilitated clear, unobstructed routing for electrical cabling and power sources, ensuring that wiring could be discreetly and efficiently routed to the appropriate locations without compromising the design or function of the space.
Surface Finishing and Decoration
- Priming: All surfaces were thoroughly primed to create an ideal base for the topcoat, ensuring that paint adhered properly and the finish would be durable and long-lasting.
- Sanding and smoothing: Any imperfections in the walls, ceilings, or other surfaces were sanded down to create a flawless, smooth surface.
- Detailing: Corners, edges, and joins were carefully worked to achieve crisp lines and an overall polished appearance, ensuring a consistent, high-quality finish.

CONCLUSION

The collaboration between New Spec Interiors, J. Adams & Co., and the principal contractor resulted in a highly successful fit-out that met both functional and aesthetic goals for the light showroom. Through the thoughtful design and installation of partitions, the decision to utilise track and stud systems ensured that the tanked basement walls were preserved while providing secure support for the lighting features. The team’s commitment to delivering a flawless painted finish further enhanced the showroom’s premium feel, making it a space that both functions and impresses.
